This is Jeremiah’s second fight against cancer. The first time was when he was 24 years old. He had experienced some abdominal pain but it became clear it was something more serious, and he was diagnosed with colon cancer. After surgery and chemo, his doctors said that he was healthier than even a normal healthy person. He overcame the odds and earned the nickname JG Freak. After infusions which gave him nausea, you would find him at the place he loved, the golf course, even on the same day.
They were thrilled that his cancer was in remission for 15 years only to have the cancer return this past year. In 2022, he started to experience symptoms including heart palpitations, and Rebekah encouraged him to see a doctor. After some blood work, his red blood cells were 4.6 compared to a normal 14. They were so preoccupied with their newborn Sophia, that they both missed urgent calls from the doctor instructing Jeremiah to go immediately to the hospital.
During the next few months, Jeremiah endured several blood transfusions, multiple emergency room visits, and even overnight stays at the hospital. Finally, they received the news that Jeremiah was diagnosed with colon cancer again.
This past year has been an emotional journey for Rebekah and Jeremiah with the joy of the birth of Sophia to Jeremiah’s cancer diagnosis, but they have kept their faith and continued to trust in God.
Rebekah shares the verse, “The Lord himself will go before you, He will be with you, He will not leave you or forget you, don’t be afraid & don’t worry.” - Deuteronomy 31:8
After surgery in December 2022 and completing four out of eight infusions, the cancer is out! God has answered their prayers and is healing Jeremiah. They are so thankful for the doctors, nurses and staff who have cared for him throughout his journey. He has already gained 30 lbs since the surgery, too!
Prior to Jeremiah’s diagnosis, they were transitioning from the traditional medical insurance to a healthshare program thinking that the whole family was healthy. Unfortunately, only a few initial medical visits were covered, and the new insurance did not cover any medical bills or surgery. It is our hope that this fundraiser will help alleviate some of the financial strain.
Jeremiah, Rebekah, and Sofia Grace are unbelievably thankful for your support to help raise funds. Please continue to keep Jeremiah and his family in your thoughts and prayers!
